Mary King’s Most Successful Year Yet!

What with finishing number 1 in the HSBC World Rankings and winning the HSBC Classic Series, Mary King has had one of the most successful years of her career! We received a letter from her letting us know more about what she’s been up to for the last few months and her excitement about the Olympics.

Preparations are well underway for London 2012. Selectors have said that they are interested in Imperial Cavalier or Kings Temptress with Apache Sauce also being on the long list but in the lower group of horses. All three horses will be entered for Badminton but Mary thinks she’ll only run Apache Sauce there, leaving the other two for Chatsworth the following weekend.

“The Germans are very strong, but the New Zealanders, Australians, Americans and French are all on the up so we need to leave no stone unturned if we are going to produce our best at the end of July (and then hope our best is good enough!)”

Mary’s daughter Emily has also had a great autumn season and was picked to ride as an individual at the Junior European Championship in Portugal. “What a fantastic experience it was for her. Riding Patsy Mason’s Mr Hiho she nearly won the Individual Gold, but a second show jump down, having been in the lead, put her down to 7th. It was very disappointing for her but I feel it was not a bad thing she didn’t win at her first attempt. She was the youngest in the GB squad and has 3 more years of junior level eventing. It has certainly given her a big boost for the future.”

In other news, Fernhill Urco is unfortunately having some time off due to an injury he sustained early in the autumn. King Albert, one of Mary’s homebreds, has been sold after it was decided he’d reached his limit with Mary. Hopefully his new owner will have lots of fun with him!

If you’re wondering what Mary will be spending her deserved winnings on, she is currently looking for a new 6 horse lorry now that Emily is entering more events.

Mary has been spending the rest of her time teaching, doing talks and lecture demos and trying to find future stars, what a busy woman! We have also received her provisional programme for 2012 which we will post soon.

How to Use the Alert ID Medical Profiles and ID Cards

At Alert ID Group we specialise in providing visible ID products for both people and property, with the added protection of having a 24/7 Emergency Support Team at the end of the phone to assist in any emergency situation. Now the team has been working on a way to provide a way of identifying yourself, whether you have purchased any of the ID tags or not.

When you sign up to any of the Alert ID Group brands (Cram-Alert, BEIDS, Ride-Alert or Alert ID) you will be asked to fill in detailed information about yourself including medical information and medication, next of kin contacts and a crisis plan to be carried out in emergencies. All of this information could prove vital if you are involved in an accident, especially if you suffer from existing medical problems. This information can be used by the Emergency Support Team to help paramedics and other members of medical staff ensure that they give you the best and most appropriate treatment.

BEIDS in Partnership with Petplan Equine Personal Profile

All of this information is compiled into a personal medical profile that can be viewed as a PDF file and printed or emailed to anyone who might require your information such as teachers, sports club leaders or riding instructors. Along with your profile you can also print an ID card which can be found with your profile. This card is linked to your personal profile and has a unique ID number that can be used by the Emergency Support Team to identify you and relay your information. The team will also call each of your emergency contacts until they get through to someone to explain what has happened to you.

Print and cut out your ID card at home to carry with you.

Every Alert ID registration covers the whole family so every member of the household can be protected by the service. Each member of the family can create their own personal profile and use the same print at home facilities.

You can print multiple copies of your profile and ID card to carry with you in your bag, coat or car to ensure that you can be identified wherever you are. The ID card is a handy credit card size so can be carried in your purse or wallet.

Obviously we can’t prevent an accident happening, but with registration priced at just £15 per year, it is a small price to pay to know that your nearest and dearest will receive the best treatment if they are involved in an emergency situation and that you will be informed as soon as possible.
